White Wines

Our 2013 Chardonnay was fermented in stainless Steel and aged sur-lie in French oak barrels. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation for added complexity and structure. This wine is aromatic and full of fruit. It has notes of toasty oak, butterscotch, green apple and pear. Our Chardonnay has undertones of spice and citrus flavors on the palate, finishing with vibrant acidity.

Featured on the Jay Leno Show on Oct. 28, 2007 and in the Travel section of the Washington Post on February 8, 2009, our proprietary white blend of Niagara and Pinot Gris.  It is named after a local area with a rich Civil War history. This refreshing “social sipper” is brimming with floral aromas and tropical fruit notes including mango, peach, apricot and honey. The wine has a touch of sweetness on the finish and it’s highlighted with candied orange flavors.

Our 2013 Pinot Gris has a fruit filled body with refreshing acidity. Aromas of lime, tropical fruit and white peaches shine in the glass. A nice long finish of honey and free apple dance on the palate. 60 cases made.

This is a lighter-bodied red wine with 66% Chambourcin, 34% Cabernet Franc and 33% Cabernet Sauvignon. The name honors the 100 anniversary of the “Elkin & Allegheny Railroad”. It was meant to deliver produce and goods over the mountains from North Carolina to western Virginia. Initially, the track was laid in Elkin running up to the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The inaugural run was on July 4, 1911. Elkin’s Centennial Celebration of the “E&A” was on July 4th, 2011.

Chatham Reserve is a blend of our best barrels. It is a blend of 40% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 20% Chambourcin and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Chatham Reserve is an elegant wine with dark red fruit flavors. It has smooth tannins and a long balanced finish. The wine was made using traditional methods with little handling and aged in French oak for 18 months.

Bugaboo Creek was one of three Brushy Mountain wines chosen by an all-star panel of 36 women judges for their “2008 Wines Women Love Shopping List!” from 1600 international wines entered in the NWWC Competition. Skillful blending and French oak aging of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon completes our Bordeaux style signature red blend. Medium-bodied, with juicy red fruit flavors, enjoy with steaks, roasts, and aged Gouda or medium-sharp Cheddar.

This wine was produced from the fantastic 2007 harvest. It is a blend Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Chambourcin. It is full bodied with ripe blackberry and plum flavors. It is a well-balanced wine with integrated tannins and a smooth finish. Many consider 2007 as one of the best grape harvest in the last 20-30 years because of the dry days and cool nights. This wine will age well but it’s drinking great now. Serve with a grilled meats and hard cheeses.

The Booger Swamp Red is a semi-sweet blend of Chambourcin (66%), Cabernet Sauvignon(17%) and Cabernet Franc (17%). It has enticing aromas of blueberries, violets, and jam. On the palate there are flavors of caramel, raisin and boysenberries giving way to tobacco and spice on a soft and velvety finish. The wine’s soft tannins and sweet finish make it perfect social sipping! Great wine for the summer when served slightly chilled.


Dessert Wine

This is our port style dessert wine. It is made from 100% Chambourcin from the 2008 vintage. It was aged in oak and undisturbed for 2 years. Serve with a Stilton cheese, chocolate and toasted walnuts.

The homage to the Elkin Canning Company, which was located in our building in the 1920’s. This wine has aromas of freshly picked blackberries. This wine has a touch of sweetness with nice acidity making it a perfect choice for dessert. It also goes great with roasted fowl, cheeses and dried fruit.

Another homage to the Elkin Canning Company. Bright raspberry aromas and flavors bring visions of vine-picked raspberries. It has a hint of tartness and velvet texture alluding to fresh raspberry flavors. Our raspberry wine is “sinfully delicious” with dark chocolate. You can also enjoy it solo as an aperitif.


Foothills Folly

The Foothills Folly label was created to celebrate our home here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the joy and adventure of making seriously fun wines. These small lots will be limited releases from vineyards far and near. We can’t wait for you to try our new Main Event, it’s a showstopper from start to finish, the celebratory Renovation Rose, a pink bubbly made to celebrate our new tasting room. Everything happens for a Riesling… From a seriously good grower with a great vineyard on that other coast

This delicious wine has aromas of white violets, rose petals and notes of honeysuckle, apricots and peaches. The crisp acidity gives way to a long and balanced finish with a touch of sweetness.

Stop and smell the Rose along the way…

This lightly sparkling Rose has bright red fruit aromas of strawberries and raspberries. Cherry flavors are also present, along with a crisp acidity that leads to an off-dry finish.
